Margaree River Fly Fishing Specialists Fly Rods
No other piece of fly fishing equipment receives more attention than the fly rod, and rightfully so. Fly rods are the direct link between angler and fish. Having the appropriate rod can make or break a fishing trip.
The fly rods we offer are ones we use for the wide variety of species we hook, from Atlantic Salmon to cutthroat trout.
Edwin and Sandra are committed to building rods of exacting and unparalleled performance. As avid anglers, this is what we need to handle the wide variety of species we chase. We fish with our rods, especially Edwin. (far more than the regular angler)
Over the years, Edwin has fished with just about everything, (including a stick with a string and hook) and our rods reflect Edwin's many years of experience.
Our rods have a broad spectrum, there is a rod for most needs of anglers at an affordable price.
MRFFS has four rods series; Breck's Brook Dry Fly Series, Big Intervale Series, Seal Pool Series and the Willie Ross Series.
The Breck's Brook rods are excellent small trout stream rods, beginning at 6' 6" #3/4 weight.
When casting in clear water with tight conditions you need a rod that was designed for these conditions.
These rods are great for fishing in tight quarters on short and medium length casts, with smooth precision using light presentations.
Small flies and light line are no problem for the Breck's Brook Rods. From panfish to selective trout, these rods offer great performance and value.(AVAILABLE IN OCTOBER)
The Big Intervale Series
runs from a 7' #3/4 to an 8' 6" #5/6 rod and is designed for medium streams and smaller rivers. This is our intermediate rod and allows you cast farther in faster moving water with more control.
These rods will help you cut through wind quicker and more efficiently than the Breck's Brook Series. This is a medium action rod and the presentation of the fly and leader will help you to have more strikes.
The Willie Ross Series is our heavy hitter. A strong backbone is an important part in any rod's construction.
Constructed of high modulus IM10 Graphite, this rod can handle the T500 fly lines coupled with big flies. This rod is more toward a fast action made for big, mean violent fish.
The Seal Pool is a Spey Series consisting of a 12' #8, 13' #9 and a 14' #10 rod.
Although very common across the ocean, Spey Rods are growing in use here in North America.
The Seal Pool Series Spey Rods are designed to meet the special requirements of steelhead and salmon anglers, that is covering lots of water, making precise mends and casting considerable distances. These rods are IM8 graphite, offering fast response without the weight of traditional materials.
Pool Series Rods are 3 piece.
